The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Qatar has officially announced a three-month grace period for expatriates who have violated Law No. (21) of 2015, which governs the entry, exit, and residency of foreign nationals in the country. This initiative aims to facilitate the smooth departure of individuals who have overstayed their visas or are non-compliant with residency regulations.

The grace period will commence on Sunday, February 9, 2025, and remain in effect for three months. During this time, eligible individuals can leave Qatar without facing legal consequences or penalties related to their visa or residency violations.

Who is Eligible?

The initiative applies to:

  1. Expatriates who have overstayed their approved entry visa duration.
  2. Individuals residing in Qatar without a valid residency permit.
  3. Any other violators of Law No. (21) of 2015 concerning entry, exit, and residence regulations.

Departure Procedures

To ensure a smooth departure process, affected individuals can follow these steps:

  • Through Hamad International Airport – Violators can proceed directly to the airport for departure.
  • Visit the Search and Follow-up Department – Located on Salwa Road, the department will be open from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM during official working hours to assist with exit procedures.
