Highlights

  • dnata to hire 7,000 new employees, including ground roles and specialist positions, to meet the rising travel demand.
  • The company plans to offer attractive packages to lure professionals amid an industry-wide shortage.
  • dnata expects significant gains in Asia-Pacific and a more profitable next financial year.

Dubai-based aviation services provider, dnata, has revealed plans to recruit up to 7,000 new employees to cater to the anticipated surge in travel demand. With the global aviation industry rebounding after the COVID pandemic, dnata is expanding its workforce, which currently stands at 46,000 employees, to meet the growing demands of the travel sector. The group’s chief executive, Steve Allen, emphasized that the company would hire 7,000 new staff worldwide, including 1,500 from within Dubai.

The recruitment drive spans various roles, encompassing baggage handlers, airport customer service agents, call center staff, kitchen staff, travel agents, and specialists like senior management, data scientists, and chefs. The initiative comes at a time of industry-wide shortages, leading dnata to offer “attractive” packages to entice talent, presenting itself as a “great place to work.”

Looking ahead, dnata is optimistic about the next financial year, projecting even greater profitability as travel demand continues to soar. In FY2022-23, dnata achieved a profit of Dh331 million ($90 million), a remarkable increase from the previous year’s Dh100 million ($27.5 million). The company anticipates substantial gains, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, which was less active last year.

As part of its expansion and innovation plans, dnata will invest over Dh500 million ($136 million) across its global operations. This investment will focus on enhancing equipment, infrastructure, and technology. The company has also made strides in adopting artificial intelligence and robotics for catering operations, showcased at the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) in Hamburg. Moreover, dnata commits Dh300 million ($81.6 million) to embrace new technologies and dedicates $100 million to green initiatives, aiming to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030.

With dnata’s ambitious hiring drive and strategic investments, the company aims to stay at the forefront of aviation service providers and effectively cater to the growing travel industry’s demands.
